Custom Foot Orthotics

Foot Orthoses, more commonly known as Foot Orthotics, are custom made foot supports. They are designed to support and balance the bio-mechanical inadequacies of your feet and legs by correcting the alignment of the foot and ankle. Depending on your needs, they can be flexible or rigid.
Custom Foot Orthotics are beneficial for treating a number of medical conditions and injuries. These include:
- Plantar fasciitis
- Hyper-mobile and flat feet
- Metatarsalgia
- Bio-mechanical foot pain
- Neuropathy/ulcers (often associated with diabetes
- Charcot foot
- Sever's disease
- Pronation and/or Supination
- Lower back, knee or heel pain
At your first appointment, Eric Bapty, our Certified Orthotist will take a medical history, evaluate posture, do a gait analysis, perform a physical examination of your lower limbs, and assess your current foot wear. Based on your doctor's prescription, your situation and the Orthotist's assessment, we will suggest a Treatment Plan.

- Redistribute foot presures
- Resist external forces
- Protect the foot and ankle
- Provide shock absorption
To fulfill your Treatment Plan, our Certified Orthotist will perform shape capture with the appropriate casting or 3D impression. Our in-house lab will create plaster models which Eric modifies to attain your treatment goal. Wendy, our technician, will custom fabricate your orthotics using the materials recommended.

Custom Foot Orthotics work best when used with an accommodative shoe that provides good support. The orthotics can be switched between shoes or boots, once the insole of the shoe is removed. Our Certified Orthotist will ensure that the orthotic fit is correct in appropriate footwear that you bring with you at your dispensing appointment, explain the wearing protocol, and offer information on any additional modalities appropriate for treating your condition.
While the correction provided may take some time to get used to, the foot orthotic should not be painful. We provide a follow-up appointment after two weeks to make sure the fit and function are working for you. We also recommend that you book a follow-up appointment if you experience any redness or bruising, if your feet change in size or you experience a re-occurrence of pain. Our Certified Orthotist can reassess your situation and determine the best course of treatment, which could include modifying the Orthotics we provided for you, or making new ones.
